Red Admiral Sunning Itself

Yesterday evening this Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta) was sunning itself on a grape leaf. Usually when I see Red Admirals at rest, they have their wings closed over their backs. This one, though, kept them spread open for a long time, with its back angled towards the setting sun.

Eventually it did close its wings, and it took off shortly after that.
